I Did It!

Okay, I did finish the Sound to Narrows for the 13th time, but I feel like I had no business running it today! Why is that? Self defeating talk? Too high of expectations or too low? Somebody like me shouldn't be able to run! For the most part today, I noticed there were NOT a lot of people my age there; most of the runners were at least twenty years younger, so I told myself that thought as they all went whizzing by me gabbing as I sucked air. It is still harder to walk up those hills fast than to try to run them, so I tried to run them. And AS I calm my thoughts...what does this event all mean? What is the lesson in all of this? Yes, I can! This is a start of something good! I am 50 and running in a grueling race! Most of these people are younger than me by far! My goodness, take a breath, celebrate your life now, I finished, I felt good for some of it and in the end the couch entertained me for most of my post race afternoon...how nice YIPPEE! It isn't often the couch sees my sorry butt on it on such a nice day.
