Slide Scan and Family DVD: I started taking 35 mm pictures when I was 18, a hobby and interest I inherited from my grandfather. This past month I've been working on scanning slides in order to make a family dvd. It amazes me how technology has pretty much taken personal photography to the next generation. It used to be that the 35 mm camera and the photographer, mine an old Canon A-1 that I used on manual most of the time, would bracket exposures and use up a lot of film in the an attempt at that perfect exposure. I used to wait a week or more for a perferred color processor to make a contact print and proofs or had at one time a darkroom that I processed my black and white and color film from. This was messy, expensive and quite a hobby that took many hours of tries with papers and chemicals. Moreover, this was how you got creative and I could put my artistic label or my minds eye on what my camera eye saw. I've posted some of my creations from 35 mm slides and my new attempt to move forward in using the computer to do my darkroom work. Included are some of my grandfathers slides on my Flickr account. My wildflower slides are all from 35 mm film, the old way. I've cropped, digitized and monkeyed around with them through Photoshop Elements. My grandfathers pictures of my family growing up in the '60's are in the raw. Look below for the link that will take you to Flickr.
